Smart growth is development that serves the economy, the community, and the environment. Lake Martin has grown tremendously over the past few years, and a need to protect its beauty has become a priority. Great care in Lake Martin’s future must be taken to keep it visually appealing and engaging. We must be responsible as a community for the future of Lake Martin. A committee and guidelines should be set up as a starting point for Lake Martin beautification. Codes could serve as guidance and give direction to start momentum.

Every fifteen seconds a woman is abused in the United States. Domestic violence has many forms, including sexual abuse, physical abuse, economic abuse, mental abuse, verbal abuse and emotional abuse. Domestic violence is one of the most under-reported crimes. In 2007, Savannah had five domestic violence homicides in which none of the victims ever made a police report or called for help through the community’s local 24-hour crisis hot line—Safe Shelter.

Centuries ago in a small, dark cave some of the first symbols were carved. Graphic design has come a long way since these cave drawings. Just as our ancestors left their mark, Savannah College of Art and Design’s creative minds are leaving their mark.
Savannah College of Art and Design opened its doors in 1978 with graphic design being one of eight of its original offerings. The program, now four times its size, boasts x students.
